Visit #11, Rugby Lions Club, Monday evening October 3, 2011

Wow, a week off; almost forgot what a steering wheel felt like. We headed out from Grand Forks at about 3:45. Arrived in Rugby in time to drive around a little. Lots of activity in this burgh.

Rugby Lions is a happening club…83 years old this month! These folks have fun being Lions. Brenda and I really enjoyed being part of the celebration. It was impressive that half a dozen Lions from Metigoshe showed up to share the evening with their Rugby friends. I have to admit that I was looking forward to hearing the infamous “Waiters Song”; it’s a cool tradition. We experienced a most moving tribute to three Rugby Lions lost this year. One of my favorite events is seeing Melvin Jones Fellowships being presented. Two awards were given to deserving Lions this evening. President Lila did a great job choreographing a busy evening. I’m not sure we’ll get that tailtwister’s ooouga horn out of our heads for some time. Thanks to the greeters for peddling state Lions pins for me.

Saw a fat, bushy coyote and a speedy fox on the drive home. In bed by midnight.
