We left Grand Forks about 2:30 and drove the 160 miles to Rugby. We arrived at the venue about 30 minutes early so we could review the program with emcee PDG Wollenburg, new Lion President Sandy Wurgler, and International Director Marvin Chambers. There were so many activities that we needed to insure we knew who was participating in which aspects of the evening.
It was ID Marvin’s first speaking engagement since his recent election in Seattle. It was good to see him and Lynn. Everything went well. Big turnout. I especially liked the “fortress” podium Rugby Lions loaned us for the evening. The new club has an “active” tailtwister. I think I was fined four times; probably deserved six. Some premium western ND lefse netted the club over $100 at auction.
Brenda and I were on the road headed home by 9:30. We drove below the speed limit and were constantly on the lookout for deer. We didn’t see any. Stopped briefly in Devils Lake for coffee.
